René Pinnell is the CEO & founder of Kaleidoscope, a community for VR creators to share their work, meet collaborators, and secure funding for future projects. As a filmmaker & designer, René produced the acclaimed comedy show Backpack Picnic, directed the feature documentary The King of Texas, sold a TV pilot to MTV, designed 5 products & founded 2 companies.

 

About Kaleidoscope

Founded in 2014 by René & Selena Pinnell, Kaleidoscope produced the first virtual reality festival in 2015 earning coverage in top publications such as The New York Times, LA Times, and VICE. Kaleidoscope has partnered with companies such as Wired and Facebook, and has gone on to produce high-profile events around the world that explore the art, science, and business of virtual reality. In 2017 Kaleidoscope began executive producing VR content, and launched an invite only platform for creators and industry leaders. To date, Kaleidoscope has helped raise more than $3MM for independent VR creators, and projects discovered on our platform routinely go on to screen at major festivals such as Sundance, Tribeca, IndieCade, Cannes, and SXSW.
